It was nice to receive a little positive press for our downtown area in a recent newspaper article. Wilmington, NC: Coolness Heats Up

We always thought that Wilmington was a pretty cool place to live, we’re not there yet apparently but our cool points are on the rise, according to the NY TIMES.

The article highlights five different restaurants and bars in and around downtown. I keep hearing good things about The Satellite Bar, I’m ashamed to say they’ve been open for a year now and I haven’t yet been in for a pint. Going to have to get my act together in 2011.

The fantastic, renovated amphitheater is also mentioned, which is a really amazing venue and undoubtedly one of the best projects the city have completed in recent memory. Another benefit is that it’s very close to the aforementioned Satellite Bar for some post performance socializing.

The article is accurate in stating that for all the “beauty and charm” of Wilmington, we’ve missed the mark a little in the past. Nowhere is this more evident than in the downtown area. It’s a shame to see businesses close and some formerly desirable retail space now vacant. That said, there’s obviously good news abound for food loving locals and visitors alike. There are several other wonderful dining spots in addition to those mentioned, Aubriana’s, Ruth’s Chris, Caprice to name a few. These restaurants all serve as a great basis of both culinary excellence and a stylish environment that makes for an optimistic outlook for the future of downtown Wilmington.

Today’s the day. After much work these past few months the new, revitalized www.acumenrealestate.com is finally launched! I think my web designer has done a really nice job, and I hope you guys like the look of the new website.

As Acumen is different from traditional real estate brokers, we wanted to create a site that was unique as well. Our site is low on quantity of text, yet high on quality of information. There are several really cool research tools that we think you’ll find very useful.

Our Market Reports are available for most zip codes in the Greater Wilmington area. They are updated weekly and offer as close as you can get to “live” updates on the condition of our local market. This accurate data is of great value for obvious reasons when looking to price a home either for sale or purchase.

We also have a hyper local search tool which we call Lifestyle Search. This new technology allows you to find the best locations to live based on your lifestyle choices. You include your preferences such as desired proximity to work, a school district, recreational facilities, shopping, dining or whatever else you desire. You’ll then be shown the areas that adhere to your search criteria. It’s a lot more fun that searching for a 3 bed, 2 bath in north Wilmington, and we’re sure this new technology will become the standard when searching for a new home in the future!

Obviously the real estate market is changing. Companies who adapt their business models and offer their clients true value in the marketplace will not just survive but flourish. Acumen Real Estate is a small company with low overhead and efficient systems. We are able to offer our clients great service using the best available technologies, while still saving them money. We hope that you enjoy our resources and please visit often to keep updated on what’s really happening in our local Wilmington l estate market.
